Annabel is an experienced dietitian of over 25 years, where she has practiced as a registered dietitian (RD) in Johannesburg, Cape Town, London and Prague, and as an Accredited Practicing Dietitian (APD) in Australia, having been based in Sydney, Melbourne and now the Gold Coast.
Having initially trained as a Biochemist, she worked in pathology at St Thomas' Hospital, London. During this time, she was selected into the highly sought after BSc Medical Honours of Nutrition and Dietetics course at University of Cape Town, being one of only 12 candidates selected each year. Her journey as a dietitian has been extensive, having held lead dietetic roles in Mental Health, Oncology, Cardiology, Weight Management and Gastroenterology. Having worked in various sectors to include private practice, governing bodies, corporate health, hospitals and food service systems.
While based in Prague, Annabel completed her Masters in Nutrition with a focus on Gastroenterology and Ethics in Nutrition. Her passion for nutrition in gastroenterology led to a role as Technical Officer for Coeliac Australia, working with the gluten free community, from clinical patients, gastroenterologists, food manufacturers, food service providers and various industrial stakeholders.
She has simultaneously working in private practice working with clinical clients with issues predominantly related to gastroenterology, eating disorders and disability when based in Sydney, Melbourne and now Gold Coast. Additional to her clinical work, she remains a consultant to Coeliac Australia in support of the Coeliac Australia Accreditation Program and to the food industry.
